15 killed in bus blast near Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Fifteen people were killed after a bus caught fire as a result of a blast near Islamabad on Tuesday.

A total of 19 passengers were en route to Rawalpindi from Gujrat when a blast occurred on board the bus near Lohi Bher area.


There is no official confirmation on the nature of the blast. Sources have said that the blast could be the result of a bomb on board the bus but there is no official confirmation in this regard.

The bus was badly damaged after the blast and rescue sources said bodies recovered from the site are beyond recognition.

The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) has reached the site and is trying to determine the cause of the blast. Officials are also collecting forensic evidence from the blast site.

One person who was injured in the blast has been shifted to PIMS Hospital.
